Hot, Hot, Hot!

The Weather Channel just reported the DC area can expect near record high temperatures today & tomorrow with a heat index of about 110 degrees F.
Have I mentioned in the last 30 seconds or so how grateful I am for air conditioning? Well, I am.
The power grid is really gonna feel this one...

Which, of course, means my hair constantly looks like shit. My hair loves to get thick and curl in humidity :P

Date: 2006-08-01 03:22 pm (UTC)The NYCers are getting NASTY fast. If it's 110 heat index outside, it's probably at least 115-120 on those (not air conditioned) underground subway platforms. Positively stifling.
Walking down 181st street this morning on my way to the bus, I saw a number of people roaming around wearing water-soaked tee shirts on their heads like bedouins.
On the bright side, if you're an armpit fetishist, the trains are the way to go as there are multitudes of hombres wearing tank tops and grasping the overhead rails. You just might want a teensy umbrella if you're sitting on a chair nearby.

Date: 2006-08-01 07:09 pm (UTC)Maybe I'm viewing DCers in a wistful, nostalgic light. Easy to do once one has been around Manhattanites for a while.

Date: 2006-08-01 07:47 pm (UTC)Then again, I have to keep reminding myself that the way you can tell a DC area native is the attitude - if they have one, they're not from around here, and there aren't many of us natives left.

Date: 2006-08-02 03:18 am (UTC)But, yeah, we had that heat wave last week, and it sucked then, too. Everyone who told me I wouldn't need AC out here is a big fat liar. Fortunately I didn't believe them.
