The Weather Channel just reported the DC area can expect near record high temperatures today & tomorrow with a heat index of about 110 degrees F.

Have I mentioned in the last 30 seconds or so how grateful I am for air conditioning? Well, I am.

The power grid is really gonna feel this one...

At least you're down in the DC area, where people are generally friendly.

The NYCers are getting NASTY fast. If it's 110 heat index outside, it's probably at least 115-120 on those (not air conditioned) underground subway platforms. Positively stifling.

Walking down 181st street this morning on my way to the bus, I saw a number of people roaming around wearing water-soaked tee shirts on their heads like bedouins.

On the bright side, if you're an armpit fetishist, the trains are the way to go as there are multitudes of hombres wearing tank tops and grasping the overhead rails. You just might want a teensy umbrella if you're sitting on a chair nearby.

You must be referring to some parallel universe DC which bears no resemblance to the one I live near. :-^

Hey, yer talkin' about my hometown! Well, sort of....I lived in Maryland for my first 18 years.

Maybe I'm viewing DCers in a wistful, nostalgic light. Easy to do once one has been around Manhattanites for a while.

Perhaps you were the sole source of DC's sweetness & light?

Well, yeah, compared with Manhattanites, DC is a very nice place...

*ducks for cover*

Don't listen to him! He's judging DC'ers by Canadian standards!

Then again, I have to keep reminding myself that the way you can tell a DC area native is the attitude - if they have one, they're not from around here, and there aren't many of us natives left.
