kent4str goes shopping!

kent4str has been looking to acquire a new toy, and last night he bought it: a new MacBook.

Yes, he's converted to the Apple side of life and is now the proud owner of a 2 GHz (Intel Dual Core) MacBook (white shell, $150 cheaper than the black shell), 1 GB of RAM, 80 GB hard drive, SuperDrive with Bluetooth and wireless networking. He spent a little extra for a wireless super mouse, MS Office and Parallels to run Windows apps when needed.

If they offered discounts for purchasing more than one at a time, I would have bought one for myself but my need for a new laptop hasn't yet overcome my resistance to such a large layout of cash (about $2200). Perhaps for my birthday next January. :-)

Apple recalls 1.8 million laptop batteries
Apple is recalling 1.8 million battery packs for its iBook and PowerBook notebook computers due to an overheating problem, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced today. Apple has received nine reports of batteries overheating, including two reports of minor burns from the computers, the CPSC said.

Oh, well! So much for that!

The recall is for their old G3 and G4 based equipment, not the newer Intel Dual Core machines. Not applicable! :-)
