kent4str goes shopping!

kent4str has been looking to acquire a new toy, and last night he bought it: a new MacBook.

Yes, he's converted to the Apple side of life and is now the proud owner of a 2 GHz (Intel Dual Core) MacBook (white shell, $150 cheaper than the black shell), 1 GB of RAM, 80 GB hard drive, SuperDrive with Bluetooth and wireless networking. He spent a little extra for a wireless super mouse, MS Office and Parallels to run Windows apps when needed.

If they offered discounts for purchasing more than one at a time, I would have bought one for myself but my need for a new laptop hasn't yet overcome my resistance to such a large layout of cash (about $2200). Perhaps for my birthday next January. :-)

Sounds sweet! I hope he gets lots of good use out of it. I've been eyeing one of the new Mac Pro towers, myself.

Eh, it'll keep him off the streets for a few hours... :-)

I haven't played with the new beast myself yet but it looks pretty sweet and is very powerful for such a small package. My 800 MHz iMac is still sufficient for my needs but I'm torn between upgrading to a newer machine (Dual Core and portable) or simply buying extra RAM to extend the life of my current beast.

One side is practical, the other is just pure retail therapy that happens to include a technological upgrade.

I'm practical. Well, more like "cheap bastard" but the effect is much the same.
