We've been away from home a lot the past two weeks. A lot. In fact, we've just returned home today from Cleveland where
cuyahogarvr has been a week and
kent4str and I since Wednesday.
Tomorrow, we're officially exchanging our presents as we didn't want to ship the lot across so many states just to unwrap them and drag them back again.
This means, of course, that I'm wrapping the bloody things right now because there has been no opportunity since their initial purchase for anything like this. I can only find two rolls of wrapping paper and no labels or tags so I just might present the entire lot wrapped in the weekend's Washington Post, adorned with post-it notes.
God, I hate xmas.

it may be a little late for that this year, but if all else fails, pillowcases. quick and easy.

Date: 2008-12-28 04:55 pm (UTC)Seriously, get gift bags and reuse them and sometimes garbage bags, both paper and plastic work too in a pinch, especially for odd shaped and/or sized gifts. One of my presetns came in a brown paper sack, taped and tied with red ribbon and many others were in gift bags because of Mom's wrist giving her fits.

Date: 2008-12-28 08:28 pm (UTC)Yes, "wrapping" is part of the experience, but consider how much of the effort is undone in literally seconds. People receiving a thoughtful gift are more likely to be touched by your thoughtfulness and while they might be impressed by the artfulness of the gorgeous paper, bows, etc. they'll be appreciating what you presented them with lots longer than the effect of the fancy packaging. Just a thought. Truthfully for me anyway seasonal gifts don't mean much to me anyway since my birthday (yesterday) is right on top of both Christmas and hanukkkkkah it all gets mooshed together anyway so generally it's a non-starter for me anyway.
