1. Someone in my office this morning bathed in Chanel Nerve Gas #5. Perfumes & colognes typically don't bother me but this stuff has set off a sneezing fit the likes I haven't experienced in years. Oy.

2. In the past few days, I've encountered a handful of people who chatter nonstop. This is beyond general conversation: it's as though they feel compelled to keep talking and talking and talking and talking to somehow stave off the grim reaper by annoying him so much he won't approach. Which sadly means that he won't relieve me of the pain no matter how much I pray for death. Why do some people abhor silence like nature abhors a vacuum?

So, what annoys you?

Guess who's 82 today? And she doesn't look a day older than 81.9 (no small feat, what with her family and all).

For the first Monday in a while and the fourth time this year, I'm not calling or dancing tonight! Yay!

I will, however, be working on practice choreography for our newest C1 dancers to drill the calls they know, and assemble some teaching material for the ones they don't. And keep writing & recording choreo to send to the Seattle husbands. And keep working on minor planning items for the 2009 Harvest Festival Hoedown. And test new merchandise sales modules on the IAGSDC website created by [livejournal.com profile] abqdan. And there's still an article to write for [livejournal.com profile] allanh and the GCA newsletter about last month's CALLERLAB convention.

Why do I suddenly feel tired again?

I left home a little early, planning to spend the balance of my day working from our basement computer room. The traffic lights near our house were not functioning; we've had heavy rains for the past two days so I wasn't overly surprised and besides I wasn't sure if they were on the same general circuit as the block on which we live.

Yup, they are.

We've apparently been without power since about 3 PM. I've shut down our Linux server; the wireless modem and DSL modem are running off the UPS for as long as it'll last so I'm able to get this message out. Still, we'll be out of juice soon. *sigh*

I really hope the pager doesn't go off... I'll only be able to telecommute as long as the batteries hold up!
