In recognition of my 5th anniversary as a full time employee of my Dear Employer, I was allowed to select my choice of a gift. After consulting with the hubbies to see if there was any household item in the selection we could use (and determined there was not), I opted to chose something just for myself:

In other news, we checked with the host hotel for the 2009 IAGSDC convention per Ken Ritucci's request. Sadly, the meeting room spaces are already sold for the days following the convention so it seems we either have to have the GCA caller school in the days preceding per our usual timing or find outside space. The latter being expensive, I suspect the GCA board will opt for the former.

Our newest DC Lambda Squares caller Abe F. asked me to digitize a number of square dance 45 rpm records for him. He lacks a turntable but does have a computer so I'll record the stack to MP3 format and make a CD of the lot. I figure I'm about half-way done so far.

Around 2 PM, we're heading over to Jim & Joseph's place for February birthday celebrations and their annual chili-fest!

[livejournal.com profile] kent4str and [livejournal.com profile] cuyahogarvr have been shopping intensely for an artificial xmas tree for a while. It's proven harder than one might imagine to find a tree which is the correct height and does not have LEDs already strung through it. I still just want to ditch the idea of having a tree at all, but the two of them can beat me up so I'm kinda stuck on that point.

A while ago, I heard on the radio of a sale at some website; I forwarded the URL to the guys and they found a model they liked. I thought my involvement was complete, but we quickly discovered that the site didn't accept Discover so we couldn't use [livejournal.com profile] kent4str's dividends credit card. The only dividends card we have is my Mastercard so I ended up paying for the wretched thing as well.

The boxed tree arrived nearly a month ago but we haven't had the time to unpackage it to see if it matched the catalog photo. Indeed, it does. In fact, here it is in all its glory --and note [livejournal.com profile] cuyahogarvr & [livejournal.com profile] kent4str in the mirror behind:
