Busy Morning

In recognition of my 5th anniversary as a full time employee of my Dear Employer, I was allowed to select my choice of a gift. After consulting with the hubbies to see if there was any household item in the selection we could use (and determined there was not), I opted to chose something just for myself:



In other news, we checked with the host hotel for the 2009 IAGSDC convention per Ken Ritucci's request. Sadly, the meeting room spaces are already sold for the days following the convention so it seems we either have to have the GCA caller school in the days preceding per our usual timing or find outside space. The latter being expensive, I suspect the GCA board will opt for the former.

Our newest DC Lambda Squares caller Abe F. asked me to digitize a number of square dance 45 rpm records for him. He lacks a turntable but does have a computer so I'll record the stack to MP3 format and make a CD of the lot. I figure I'm about half-way done so far.

Around 2 PM, we're heading over to Jim & Joseph's place for February birthday celebrations and their annual chili-fest!

I'm pleased that Abe is following through with calling, and has some opportunities I just can't plead enough to encourage the THREE people here that have been through caller school (some several times) to either work with them to develop their skills or get them to do ANYTHING toward helping Kris and me with the programs. It's bizarre.

I remember how interested Abe was at GCA School in Denver in finding decent music in the Record Recycle Stack, partly in that he wasn't manic about it. Hope he's amassed a nice collection of his own that you're converting to mp3 for him.

The collection so far is good basic stuff: some melody and distinct beats. I haven't heard anything which catches my ear as a good singer, but I'm still trying to figure out where Abe's tastes lay in that particular area so I'm in no position to critique at all.

kent4str and I have plenty of good stuff in our collection which we don't use because it isn't our style or taste; it might be Abe's so we'll share with him pieces we aren't using. Whatever he doesn't take we can give to the caller school for their share box in Cleveland, esp since we're driving there insteady of flying.

It is indeed a Bulova. Never had one before but I'm making a point of dressing a lot more upscale for work these days. All I need now is a new tie clip or two.
