bjarvis: (biohazard)
Yesterday was a roller coaster: I felt like grim death in the morning but better in the afternoon. I plummeted to a whole new level of cold-induced hell in the evening and did little more than toss & turn all night. It felt that no sooner did I finally drift off to sleep than the alarm clock stabbed me in the brain to start the cycle over again. And now that I'm (briefly) vertical, my nose is dripping so much I risk complete dessication before I manage to draft myself back to bed.

On the good side, I did manage to eat a small plate of xmas leftovers for dinner last night, my only food for the day. After my over-indulgence through the holidays, I might average out to my normal weight again by the time this is over.

I've called in sick and updated my office voicemail message to indicate I'll be out today. If past experience is any guide, I'll be feeling my normal self again by late afternoon; my colds tend to be intense but relatively brief. If not, either [livejournal.com profile] kent4str or [livejournal.com profile] cuyahogarvr will likely be smothering me with a pillow 'cause I'm no fun at all right at the moment.

When I was creating this LJ entry, I clicked on my "biohazard" userpic but it displayed my userpic of downtown Baltimore instead. The universe is having far too many laughs at my expense. And that of Baltimore.

bjarvis: (couch)
After this morning's post, I went back to bed. My feet were freezing to an uncomfortable degree, so much so that it took a while before I could doze off.

Fortunately, when I awoke closer to 11:30 AM, my feet were comfortable, my overall temperature was closer to normal and I'm feeling vastly better compared to last night or even earlier this morning. Now that I've had a shower and put on some clothes, I'm starting to feel human again. I still have sniffles and a slight headache but I can live with this.

At the moment, I see no impediment to going to work tomorrow. It will be nice to get out of the house for a while.

bjarvis: (Honda Civic)
I collected enough energy to drive my car to the local equivalent of Jiffy Lube for an oil change. 20 minutes later, I'm home again.
