Mondays are mixed blessings at best.

I'm braced for a tsk-tsk from the fashion police today. Last night, [livejournal.com profile] cuyahogarvr beat me to bed. Being the angelic & loving incarnation of sweetness itself, I didn't turn on the bedroom light to select my wardrobe for the following business day per my usual routine. Since I'm up & out of the house while it is still dark and long before the other two are conscious, this has been my regular habit of making myself sartorially presentable to the planet, not to mention learning early enough in advance that I'm out of clean clothes. On the rare occasion where I forget to lay out my clothes in advance, I skulk through the closet with a flashlight to minimize the disturbance. Positively angelic, I tell you.

Sometimes, it goes horribly wrong. Or, in this case, just a little off.

By the light of a flashlight, it's awfully hard to tell the difference between a pair of black dress pants from dark green dress pants. In full light, it's easy to tell. One goes nicely with a grape oxford shirt, the other... not so much.

It's not a horrible clash blinding all who tragically visit my cube, but it's enough to make me less than comfortable. The fashion police won't kill me but a small fine is entirely possible.

Fortunately, I have time to swing by home today before calling C1 for the Ettseteras tonight in College Park, MD, subbing for [livejournal.com profile] justetthon. Since work is going to be slow today as folks ramp up from the office calendar dead zone that was Thanksgiving, I'll have plenty of time to review my material, add some tweaks and possibly implementing some of the ideas which came to me last night while I was staring at the ceiling until late into the night because I ate too much dark chocolate almond bark before going to bed and instead of selecting the day's clothing.

The fifth Thursday of each month is DC Lambda Squares' Advanced & Challenge level night. Sadly, the caller previously booked for this coming Thursday has just suffered the loss of a family member; [livejournal.com profile] kent4str and I have been asked to substitute for him this coming Thursday.

Our calling schedule this week:
Monday: [livejournal.com profile] bjarvis calling C1 for Ettseteras, [livejournal.com profile] kent4str teaching Mainstream for the DC Lambda Squares;
Tuesday: [livejournal.com profile] bjarvis calling Plus & A2 for the Chesapeake Squares;
Thursday: [livejournal.com profile] bjarvis & [livejournal.com profile] kent4str calling A2 & C1 for the DC Lambda Squares;
Friday: Possibly dancing to Butch Adams' A2, presuming we're not dead of exhaustion.

Tonight's dance was, as with so many others, a learning experience.

We started out with two squares, barely. One of our dancers though has problems with her legs so she wasn't able to dance the entire evening; another dancer only popped in for the first tip and had to go.

With the reduced numbers, we tried dancing with just 15 bodies, two squares but one with a phantom. Even after stacking one square with some of the stronger dancers, it was distinctly less successful than I had hoped. Ah, well... it was a useful experiment and I kept that tip short just in case it was a problematic.

From that point onward, we danced one square at a time with the others sitting out. People left gradually through the evening but not always as couples so I had to constantly update the dancer pairings in the couples rotation software.

Despite the minor challenges, I had a fun time and I think the dancers did; the last three tips in particular seemed very well received --I dropped some of my harder stuff to just go with fun & flow.

Plus & A2 tomorrow with the Chesapeake Squares, then A2 and C1 with DC Lambda Squares on Thursday!
