Tonight's dance was, as with so many others, a learning experience.

We started out with two squares, barely. One of our dancers though has problems with her legs so she wasn't able to dance the entire evening; another dancer only popped in for the first tip and had to go.

With the reduced numbers, we tried dancing with just 15 bodies, two squares but one with a phantom. Even after stacking one square with some of the stronger dancers, it was distinctly less successful than I had hoped. Ah, well... it was a useful experiment and I kept that tip short just in case it was a problematic.

From that point onward, we danced one square at a time with the others sitting out. People left gradually through the evening but not always as couples so I had to constantly update the dancer pairings in the couples rotation software.

Despite the minor challenges, I had a fun time and I think the dancers did; the last three tips in particular seemed very well received --I dropped some of my harder stuff to just go with fun & flow.

Plus & A2 tomorrow with the Chesapeake Squares, then A2 and C1 with DC Lambda Squares on Thursday!

What you need for those squares-short-one-person is a rolling trash can...

And risk having the trash can upstage the other seven dancers? No way! :-)

You mean you didn't encourage the three spare couples to tag in to the square? I've heard it's a breeze for the caller to track seven couples! LOL
