Happy birthday,
Aug. 2nd, 2007 09:05 amI haven't written much lately as there hasn't been much to write.
Work has been productive: Randi and I have built twelve new servers in the past couple of days. Ironically, the deployment is part of the server reduction project. The theory is that deploying this twelve machines will let us retire 20+ less powerful machines. Of course, the retirement of those servers isn't scheduled yet so time will tell.
I'm told my mother is apparently preparing to apply for her Canada pension plan. To do this, she needs certified birth certificates for all of her kids. Uh, what? What do our birth certificates have to do with her pension? Does she qualify for some sort of hazard/danger bonus for raising us?
I haven't called a square dance in three days. The break has been nice. :-)
Tomorrow is payday. I'm looking forward to the monetary food pellet for work done in the past two weeks.

PayPal Frustration
Aug. 2nd, 2007 09:43 pmI'm trying to figure out how to compose the appropriate HTML code for a click-thru button to allow purchases via PayPal. We have our PayPal merchant account but PayPal's instructions for how to link to them is incredibly obtuse. If you have one of their blessed shopping cart clients, all is well; if you don't, they do have facilities but they've made it difficult to figuer out.
PayPal does provide code snippet examples, but they're so vague and context-free. You'd think they'd want to make the process a little easier. I feel like I'm trying to duplicate the entire human genome using only descriptions of basic amino acids with no clue or template about how they could possibly be linked together.
I'm going nuts. If anyone else has any success in linking a web site to PayPal, please let me know... I'm in over my head currently.
