We had much fun with C1 dancing last night.

Somehow, various folks have decided we should be dressing in themes for our Wednesday events: last night, we were to dress in orange t-shirts (matching the horrid colour scheme of the room we use). Dunno why, we just are. Michael M. brought a spare shirt for me as I have not a single article of orange clothing.

Next week's theme is red. Go figure.

I've been coordinating much of the Wednesday dancing since our C1 boot camp last October. It's not much, just setting up Evite to ensure we have enough bodies and confirming the space is available. Still, I've viewed our Wednesday sessions as a series of interim workshops only, designed to get us all up to a reasonable C1 skill level leading up to AC/DC in mid-February: I've never given a thought to extending them past AC/DC.

Other dancers have different ideas, however. Donna is pushing me to extend the series more or less indefinitely, although perhaps scaling back to every other week. I'm pushing it back to her: if she wishes to keep it going, she can do the organizing, or con someone else into it. I'm having fun with the workshops, but I have other organizational priorities currently.

[livejournal.com profile] kent4str and I jointly called a C1 tip last night. I managed to test-drive four figures, three of which went well. The fourth only had a single snag in triple boxes... I'll redraft the closer of that figure to clear up the issue. We'll call a tip again next Wednesday which should give me enough proven material for a full tip at AC/DC.

Yesterday's minor wafting of fluffy snow was enough to set all of the municipal road salt & sand crews into overdrive. Apparently they were all depending on major overtime hours this season, none of which have materialized.

The chemicals added to our regional highways did quite the number on my car:

Needs a wash, 2007-02-08 Needs a wash, 2007-02-08

It looked even worse before I cleaned the windows while fuelling it yesterday afternoon.

I am happy to say that I'm back from lunch and found a block of time to take my car around to the local carwash for refreshing. While it could still use an extra rinse in a few spots, it is immensely better than it was: one can now tell that it is indeed green rather than powdery white (see current userpic). The wait in line at the wash was almost a half-hour but it was worth it. Good thing I ate first.

When I returned to the office, I intentionally parked my car next to the dirtiest SUV I could locate, just to enhance the appearance of spotlessness.
