Yesterday's minor wafting of fluffy snow was enough to set all of the municipal road salt & sand crews into overdrive. Apparently they were all depending on major overtime hours this season, none of which have materialized.

The chemicals added to our regional highways did quite the number on my car:

It looked even worse before I cleaned the windows while fuelling it yesterday afternoon.

I am happy to say that I'm back from lunch and found a block of time to take my car around to the local carwash for refreshing. While it could still use an extra rinse in a few spots, it is immensely better than it was: one can now tell that it is indeed green rather than powdery white (see current userpic). The wait in line at the wash was almost a half-hour but it was worth it. Good thing I ate first.

When I returned to the office, I intentionally parked my car next to the dirtiest SUV I could locate, just to enhance the appearance of spotlessness.

It's a full life, isn't it? I was just wishing I could be out there for ACDC (I'm sending Dave Decot as my emissary to feel ya'll up in my stead), and then I'm reminded why I'd rather have you Easterners visit us... :-)

Oh puh leeze...

I have not washed my truck in over a year and you can still tell it's green. :-)

Yep, yep, yep. I know all about this. When we lived in Syracuse many years ago, all of our cars were two-tone. They had their unique colors during the summer and then they were all slate gray the rest of the year. You just get used to it and learn to buy stock in windshield washer fluid.

Jealous here that you got that much snow. I saw that system moving through VA and figured you would get some. Next week has some promise to be interesting here in the winter weather department. We shall see.

You always send us your snow up north. It's just been ass cold up here in the Boston area.

My car won't see the inside of a car wash for at least another month, and that's because I don't want the doors to freeze once they're washed. Here, it's a matter of the temperature controlling when a car gets cleaned, not how thick the layer of salt is on it. I think my car is blue. Unfortunately, they all look alike at this time of the year.

Impressive...I'm so glad that salt isn't used in this part of the country.

I was going to get my car washed last weekend, but there was a line around the block, so I gave it up.

Used to wash my own all the time, until I realized it wasn't cost effective!
