bjarvis: (butt)
Despite the best efforts of the universe, I am determined to have a good day today, even if it kills me and everyone else around me.

Most of this past week has been one warp core breach after another, the weather has been wet & rainy, and I even had to miss square dancing last night, so I asserted as I drifted off to sleep that Friday would be a good day, no matter what happens. My workload (comparatively speaking) would be light on Friday, Friday is payday and I'm going out for a sundae at lunchtime.

Naturally, all hell has broken loose at work again so lunch will be deferred, but I am going to have my sundae, even if it's for dinner!

On the good side, the new screen door for the front entrance arrived yesterday and was installed... looks good! Now I just need a new washer & dryer, a contractor to install extra insulation in the attic and enough time to get my car to the Honda dealer for routine servicing (and I suspect a new set of tires). sigh

My last paycheck maxed out my 401(k) contributions for the year (that's the brain-damaged equivalent of a Canadian RRSP). Accordingly, today's paycheck and each one for the rest of the year will have an additional $450 (after taxes). Combined with some surprise outside jobs I've done this past week and reimbursement from the square dance club for a number of expenses, I wiped out the last of my credit card balances this morning.

I would have finished off the cards months ago had it not been for paying off my sister's car loan a couple of months ago. Pray she doesn't need any additional funding for another month or so to let me build up reserves in my Canadian chequing account again, as well as perhaps build up our joint savings account in the US. I'm dreading xmas already.

Now if I can just get rid of the mortgage...
