Kent & I were instructing at the Baltimore mainstream class this afternoon, 1-5 PM. This is the 5th session out of a total of 8 scheduled. The first 90 minutes was spent drilling materials they've already seen and catching up quickly for the one or two who may have missed prior session. While wheel & deal needed more time than we had anticipated, everyone seemed to recall all of the prior calls relatively well.
This week, new calls included (not the teaching order): shoot the star, box the gnat, ferris wheel, touch 1/4, slide thru, trade by, pass to the center, cloverleaf and flutter wheel.
There's only 16 calls left and two full class sessions to go (the third will be dedicated to full review & practice). DC Lambda Squares is offering a discounted registration rate to newbie MS graduates ($50) for the Harper's Ferry Hoedown fly-in the weekend after they complete the class sessions. Even if they don't go for the full weekend, we're encouraging them to come for Saturday under the day rate plan so they can see what fly-ins are like.
Directly from the class, we headed to Greenbelt, MD, where the DC Lambda Squares were hosting a community dance called by Tom Miller, 6:30-9:30 PM. We had three squares on the floor most of the night and two tips of DC's class-level material (they're running an MS class on Tuesday nights but I have no idea how far along these dancers are since we're calling in Baltimore those nights). My A2 dancing is finally where I want it to be thanks in large part to floor time at Cleveland's fly-in last weekend and I tape recorded some of Tom's calling for later study & analysis: I like his flow and delivery a lot so I'll be listening intently and making notes.
We just watched "Firefly," recorded last night while we were out shopping; I have to write up a class report for Dayle and probably head to bed relatively soon.
