Nope, I wouldn't have guessed this one...

Mal
You are Captain Malcolm Reynolds, aka. Mal or
Captain Tightpants. You saw most of your men
die in a war you lost and now you seek solitude
with a small crew that you are fiercely devoted
to. You have no problems being naked.

We're off to the trailer in about two hours. I'm already packed but Kent hasn't started yet. Still, there's a tonne o' things yet to do before we go. Instead of writing this LJ entry, I should be heading to the local Jiffy Lube for an oil change for my Civic (we're taking the Caravan to the trailer but I want it ready for work on Monday), stop by the bank and pick up ice for the food coolers, among other minor tasks. And the cleaning crew should be doing their magic on our house while I'm out on errands.

Today, however, is the beginning of the happy period of my calendar year. It's fall! Cool days and cooler nights! Leaves changing colour! Reduced humidity! And topmost on my mind: today's payday has maxed out my 401(k) contributions so future paychecks for the remaining three months of the year will be somewhat larger. Yes, it's a only a mental and accounting contrivance but it gives me the flexibility for six paydays and 90 days to salt away extra savings into various other accounts without making any impact in our day-to-day standard of living. Barring extraordinary financial demands of my family --still a possibility-- we should be using some extra cash to remake the main bathroom this winter.

And Kent reminds me I still need to our donations to various charities to see that everyone gets something in this fiscal year and that my office has the documentation for their matching donation plan. I'll worry about that when we get back next week.

This one isn't directed specifically at blog users (gasp!) and is primarily targeting a Canadian audience but is interesting nonetheless.

All is quiet at Roseland, WV, tonight. Kent has a fire burning and we're watching the stars with an occasional satellite zipping across the sky as we digest a dinner of grilled burgers.

The campgrounds are nearly close to empty right now: there are perhaps a dozen seasonal campers on site with a handful of nonseasonals in tent campers or small trailers. The silence is delightful, although the swimming pool area seems pitifully lonely now that it's deserted & closed for the season.

The leaves are only starting to change colour and the nights are cool. I'm looking forward to sleeping snuggled up to Kent under heavy quilts and blankets.
