As of last night, Kent's stolen minivan has been located. It was found about five blocks from where it was taken in downtown DC; all we know at the moment is that one rear tire is flat and the ignition has been jacked. The police officer who called with the news was utterly incapable of understanding Kent's very simple questions and gave vague & wandering responses, as though he was high.

The vehicle will be impounded and the insurance company will get the beast to a garage for assessment & repairs. Kent plans to visit the minivan today for his own assessment, see if his glasses are still inside and to check the odometer to see out of curiousity how far the machine had travelled in the three days since it was stolen.

Since Kent has been keyed up for the past three days about buying a new minivan, he may yet proceed with that plan, esp. if the insurance company balks at whatever repairs might be required for the old machine. More dirt shortly.

Maybe the 'police officer' that called was actually the teenager that stole it, having found Kent's number in the car.

Possible, but I can't think why the thief would want to call us. Kent was clever enough to ask for a badge number (which we duly recorded) and we were called back again later in the evening with more details on where the minivan would be taken and how to proceed.
