Yesterday evening, we saw "The Dark Knight Rises," the latest & final installment in this latest Batman series.

I kinda liked it. Oscar-worthy? I can't think who or why any of the primary characters might be considered for an Oscar. It was an OK movie with a competent and professional cast but I didn't see anything which rises to the level of an Oscar.

I have mixed feelings on the ending. Nearly every plot thread was ended cleanly, a few more were started to play a little more with the Batman myth & titillate the fanboy base, but I didn't find it very satisfying.

Then again, I'm clearly not in the mainstream of movie audiences in general. What did I find most emotionally surprising/devastating? Not the "death" of Batman or Bruce Wayne, not the Italian cafe scene with Alfred, not the allusion to Robin and the batcave.

No, I was most devastated by the demise of Wayne Enterprises. I think it says something about how little the acting touched me emotionally that the paper death of a mega-corporation is what left me saddened & grieving. I'm pretty sure that wasn't what the writers intended.

Oddly enough, that was the same feeling I had...how sad it was to see a formerly benevolent corporation go under.
