What To Do, What To Do...
Dec. 12th, 2010 11:50 amAmazingly enough, my to do list is practically exhausted. I know, I'm just as shocked as you are. Which means, of course, I need to work on square dance stuff!
- From a C1 square dance calling gig a few weeks ago, I know I have three sequences in my database which need revision.
- I need to study my C2 calls, not for dancing but from the perspective of the caller. One cannot write good choreo unless one has memorized all potential starting positions for each call, the ending formation of each call from each position and exactly how the dancer order & arrangement are shuffled by the call. I think my C2 dancing is solid enough that it is time to work more on the caller perspective.
- When I have (2) above done, I need to start writing C2 choreo. Lots of it. And jettisoning at least half as noble but undanceable efforts --the first hundred sequences are always the worst.
- I need to start reading the C3A definitions. I'm not sure when & where I might have the chance to learn & dance C3A but fortune favours the prepared.
- As soon as we have a viable flyer for distribution and a web site update, it will be time to promote the upcoming GCA caller school in Atlanta, GA, June 27-29, 2011. Watch for Twitter and Facebook updates.
- I need to think more about an article promoting the upcoming CALLERLAB convention for the GCA's Call Sheet. There will be a bunch of GCA callers in attendance but with Las Vegas so accessible to the west coast, I hope for our largest contingent yet.
