The electricity just came back on at 3pm today. We're crossing our fingers it stays on but in the interim, we're running the furnace and charging the small appliances. There's still no sign of a snow plow so we're still trapped in our neighbourhood, but now that we're warm, we're fine with that.

While we have power, I'm uploading some photos taken earlier today:

Wow, you really got slammed. Glad your power is back on. I just spent about an hour shoveling my sidewalk and driveway (for the second weekend in a row) but we only got 8" of snow here.

I feel a twinge of sadness for the poor shivering Princess Mobile.

One of the more annoying remnants of storms is people who only remove the snow from their rear windows and leave the snow on top of their cars ready to blast the vehicle in back of them when the snow on top loosens and smashes into their vehicle temporarily blinding them.

Oh, glad you've got power back. You can now open the fridge and deep freeze.

When I lived in the District (just after the last Ice Age) if you weren't on a bus route your street didn't get plowed. Made for some fun times driving on hard packed ice.

I was living in Arlington during the Feb. '79 blizzard - as I recall that was over two feet with a foot already on the ground - but sounds like this one topped that.
