I'm undecided yet about going. Since I have satellite service from Canada, I could watch the results roll in at home just as easily as in downtown DC, and I won't have to drive home depressed if theneo-puritans Conservatives win a majority.

I'm quite scared of a tory majority.
not only are they neo-puritans, they are making what sound like impossible promises - cutting taxes and making all sorts of spending promises. Stephen and the Harpies claim they won't cut programmes, but it doesn't seem to add up to moi.
I say: go to the heffalump and castle. given the possibilities, the embassy may not be able to sponsor such soirees in the future, so take advantage while you can.
