Visiting Hillwood

Today, our happy household went to Hillwood, the palatial estate of Mrs Marjorie Merriweather Post, heiress of the General Foods conglomerate, in central Washington DC. I've never been to the estate although the DC Lambda Squares has been invited to demonstrate square dancing there on several occasions (Mrs Post was a big fan of square dancing).

It was perfect weather and while the buildings and their contents were fascinating, I definitely took more photos of the flower gardens than anything else. (The fact that we weren't allowed to take photos inside the residential buildings also was a factor.)

While there were huge crowds, the eye candy was slight at best. Still, if you're interested,

Agree... slim pickings. I'd let the left one of the hottie couple buy me a drink, but that's about it.

As for #2, I want to rip his pants off but NOT because I want what is underneath, but because those pants are just WRONG WRONG WRONG!!! ;-)

re: daddy #2's shorts: those are in Burberry Check, the hallmark of Burberry's Ltd. They are a long-established and very high-end haberdashery outfit in the UK, and the market they go for would be called "preppy" in NAmerica. The check started out as lining for raincoats, but then came outside and became how the well-heeled showed their quality.

ah, but then it started to backfire. burberry check became trendy among "chavs" - football hooligans, & Vicky Pollard if you've watched "Little Britain". The BBC explains it here

so - is daddy #2 trying to indicate that he's preppy, or he's a hooligan? I let you decide.

(not that I would be caught dead wearing the stuff - it is, indeed, wrong, to my way of thinking)

Preppy or chav (and DEFINITELY chav to a Brit!) they still look wrong, wrong WRONG!!! As you say, he's trying too hard and it's backfiring.

I, of course, dress impeccably in my togs from the supermarket... *ahem!* ;-)
