The JWs come to visit

A couple of young Jehovah's Witnesses just popped by to warn me about the End Times. At first, I was worried my parents were coming to visit but it turned out to be global annihilation instead so I relaxed a bit.

We sparred verbally for a few minutes about the interpretation of the past few thousand years of human history, quickly determined that neither of us were going to change our view any time soon and politely disengaged with dignity intact on both sides.

We're hosting a square dance calling workshop in 90 minutes... perhaps I'll leave their magazine out on the coffee table for the amusement of the dancers.

When I was a kid, one of my neighbors used to tell me that anyone who did not convert would die when the end of the world came, which was very soon. It was 1965. Still waiting. :-)

Yeah, I pointed out that the End of Days has scheduled to be within our lifetime since John the Divine had his fun with mushrooms and hallucinated the entire book of Revelations and it hasn't happened yet. They were sure, however, that it's Real Soon Now and the other supposed apocalypses were just preamble. Right.
