Gearing up for New Year's

The weather is decidedly unpleasant around the greater DC area currently. We've had a light rain all night and there's a dense fog enveloping the Maryland suburbs. Fortunately, rush hour is still unusually light thanks to the large numbers of commuters off on holidays. Alas, I'm not one of the vacationing throng.

The rain & fog are indicative of my current run of luck: it would figure that we'd have ugly weather on the one day when I absolutely must go out at lunchtime to put some gas in the car, visit the bank and handle some minor grocery shopping. Bloody typical.

Our co-trailer trash, jearbear65oh and his cute hubby David, will be arriving from Columbus, OH, this afternoon; I'll collect them at BWI some time around 5:40 PM, although I understand the weather isn't that great in Columbus either. I expect flight delays.

Tonight is the 5th Thursday of the month so the DC Lambda Squares will be dancing A2 & C1. I'm hoping to pop by for a couple of tips before taking Jerry & David out for dinner. If nothing else, I have a stack of flyers promoting otterpop58's upcoming C1 dance on Jan 20 (the club membership already knows well about his other calling gigs on Jan 21 & 22).

I believe Jerry & David will be touristy Friday, visiting the Smithsonian museums while I'm working. We're planning to rendez-vous for bear happy hour at Titans around 6:30-7 PM, then scoot out for dinner in the neighbourhood at our convenience. Since my car window hasn't been repaired yet, we'll use the minivan and hope that its windows don't get smashed in while we're downtown. :-^

It's not typically so but apparently it's now a frequent happy hour hang-out on Friday nights at least. My own HH group floats among other locations and because Titans becomes far too crowded very quickly, it's typically a bar I've avoided.

I don't drink either --despite my parents' best efforts to drive me to it-- but I belong to a sordid group which mets up for cocktails & dinner around DC most Friday nights. There's 55 people on our mailing list the last I checked but 10 or so is our usual dinner turn-out.

I'd watch those two closely if I was you. David acts all cute and quiet but I've come to suspect he's the more devious of the two... :o)

'Tis true. And when one adds Fridley to the group, ear plugs are the order of the day. When they get started, I usually pick up David --literally-- and slink away quietly with him for some, ahem, quality time.

We always give Jerry hell... that's his purpose in life. :-)

They'll be joining us for A/C night out of curiousity but we'll likely cut out after a tip or two so they don't get entirely bored.
