bjarvis: (DC Diamond Circulate)
[personal profile] bjarvis
This afternoon, the official committee baseball caps arrived for the DC Diamond Circulate convention.

Attending the convention and need an officer of the local committee? Look for the blue DCDC hats!

Need advice or help from a local volunteer? The forest green DCDC t-shirts should be arriving tomorrow... photos to follow.

Tonight, we had 35 volunteers at club night stuffing the registration packets. We had 800+ largely ready to go within an hour. There's going to be two additional packet stuffing events: I still need to prepare the personalized packets which will have the meal tickets, swag tickets, pre-ordered merchandise tickets and such, and there are five more pieces which weren't ready in time for tonight's run of the generic packets. We'll get these tackled next Tuesday night.

A sad bit of news arrived today. It's official: Canadian caller Tim Crawford will not be calling for this convention. There have been issues surrounding his permits to work in the US which won't be cleared in time despite tremendous effort and energy over the past 6+ months. Rather than add additional calling staff, the schedule is being rejiggered slightly to distribute his hours to the other staff callers. I hope his travel clearances are restored soon as I'd really like to book Tim for either our Harvest Festival Hoedown next year or our ACDC 2010 events.

It's not too late to get you one if San Francisco wins the 2013 bid. All you have to do is chair the convention.

oh no no no. I am waiting for the one Brian will wear - at THIS convention. I have no intention of stepping on that particular land mine, thank you. :)

I think we should all chip in and buy him a sparkly sequined halo.

Now, I just have to find a good costume store in DC.

That, or a Michael's Art Supply.

I can arrange for your banquet table to be in West Virginia.

But Kent or Michael would rescue me, I know...just as long as they got first crack at taking a picture of you in the halo.

Never mind.

You're no fun any more. :)

Be nice and I'll put Rick Hawes' table in West Virginia instead. :-)

*grumble* I'm not allowed to be nasty to him this year.

I sort of ... promised.

In exchange for setting up the 10/25 Project signups and listings at the Medallion Project table, I'm not allowed to tweak him onstage. Dammit.

I have sold my soul to further the cause of Gay Square Dance History.

The joke's on him: you sold your soul a dozen times over decades ago. He's now just an unsecured creditor. :-)
