I haven't posted much lately, largely because I've had little to say. Work is still a little frustrating --I feel out of the loop and disconnected from the new employer and colleagues-- but things are getting better and we're working on getting approvals to fly me to California in the next couple of weeks. I'll be happier when my first paycheck arrives in the mail in the next few days and happier yet when direct deposit begins.

Outside of last week's C1 workshop already described in this blog, there's been almost no square dancing activity. I seldom have gigs in the first half of the month so this is all very normal.

IAGSDC convention stuff continues but I've already posted the latest registration updates. We have another newsletter about to be published and another committee meeting this coming Satuurday. We're also starting to work on ACDC 2010, next year's Advanced & Challenge event in DC... I want to have a promo flyer and registration form in the dancer packets for the IAGSDC convention this April as it's too good a marketing opportunity to miss.

Mid-Atlantic Leather was this weekend in DC. I didn't go out much again this year: the weather was more conducive to snuggling in at home than going out. And as much as I love seeing everyone again, it's typically so crowded and fast-moving that I only get a few minutes of anyone's time for the briefest of chats. I'd prefer a smaller and more intimate event. Maybe I'm just getting old and curmudgeonly. OK, older and even more curmudgeonly.

I'm with you on the large-group inability to have anything meaningful in the way of conversations or visits. The IAGSDC convention is generally that way for me. I've never been so alone as when I was wandering around the San Francisco Gay Pride festival in the late afternoon by myself...on my 40th birthday.

Most of those were taken at a brunch hosted by a friend Saturday morning. I had barely three photos taken at the MAL host hotel itself Sunday afternoon. And that was my total MAL experience for this year, albeit significantly more than last year's.

Let me know when you have travel dates, so that Randy and I can wine and dine you while you're in town.
