We've been off square dancing for nearly two weeks so it was a sluggish resumption of our C2 class tonight. Still, I remember nearly everything faster and more smoothly than I did at the last class in December.

There were a stack of new calls. "Outlet" and "cross invert" were tackled at a class in December we missed because (a) it was supposed to be review only and (b) we were in Cleveland. Still, those were relatively easy calls, both variations of ones we've already seen.

Completely new calls were: "criss-cross the shadow," "file to a line," "sock it to me" and "here comes the judge." All were internalized without major trauma although it will take a little practice to dance them elegantly.

This Thursday, we're attending a planning meeting for DC Diamond Circulate. Only three more months to go!

Friday, we head to York, PA, for a weekend of C1 concepts with John Marshall. Pray for us and our squares.

There's nothing really "elegant" about SITM and HCTJ, but they get a bit smoother in time. ;-)

More elegant at least than saying "preferring the far left (or right) side dancer, out roll circulate"...

As for Criss-Cross the Shadow, I have to ponder: "Is Kris really cross, or just annoyed at the Neighbor?"

It seems much of C2 is somewhat less elegant than one might have thought. *sigh*

There's ample opportunity for plenty of wind-in-your-face dancing at C2, but yes indeed, it does get more puzzlish.
