Club Night

bjarvisI was calling Mainstream and Plus for the DC Lambda Squares tonight, thus providing me a legitimate excuse to avoid the US vice-persidential debate and get paid for it.
Tonight went fairly well. The first Plus set was a laugh --thank god: I felt like I couldn't do anything right. Fortunately, we collectively laughed off the worst of it and finished with a few solid figures and singing call so that tip was salvaged.
I tried two newly acquired singing calls last night: "Dance Me Around, Cowboy" and "How A Cowgirl Says Goodbye." The first one didn't so well... I had adjusted the musical key to better suit my voice but I clearly need to adjust it further. The latter, though, was spot-on and sounded as full & complete as any of my old favourites. Yay!
I have no more calling gigs until later in October. With a little luck, I can use the breathing space to catch up on other projects. (Yeah, right.)
