Necessary Maintenance

I noticed yesterday afternoon that the rear driver's side tire of my Civic was very soft. My pressure guage indicated less than 10 psi, 1/3 its correct value. I was able to pump enough air into the tire at the garage next door to my office to get me home last night. Checking this morning, the pressure was clearly down but not catastrophically --yet. I also saw what looked like the broken-off end of a nail embedded in the tire itself. Not good.
As I type this, my car is suspended 5+ feet off the garage floor at the MErchant's Tire in Frederic, MD, having the tire in question replaced, the tires rotated & realigned.
This is not money I wanted to spend just now and it's not time I can especially spare for this maintenance, but neither can be avoided right now, especially with the office hours I have to put in this weekend.
Trying hard to look on the bright side, I'll feel significantly relieved in another half-hour when the work is completed and I can remove another item or two off my extensive to-do list.
