Preparing for the ASGRA Rodeo
Sep. 5th, 2008 09:29 amIt's rodeo weekend in DC once again but the weather is definitely not cooperating.
The weather reports this morning were warning of heavy rains and potential flash floods across Saturday. The bulk of the rodeo events are in an open stadium in Montgomery County so we're either going to get utterly soaked or the events will be scrubbed. Figures.
kent4str and I are calling for the DC Lambda Squares dance demos Friday night (midnight!) at the official rodeo hotel in McLean, VA, and again Saturday afternoon at the soon-to-be-drenched county fairgrounds. We'll either have a captive audience in the only dry space in the area or we'll have no audience at all as everyone stays home (or gets washed out to sea).

Date: 2008-09-05 03:21 pm (UTC)In the past, I haven't found a lot of drinking at the dances: the hotel bars are too pricey for folks to drink too quickly --of course there's always the folks who packed their bar with them when they left home.
I do wonder though how many people will have simply blown off the hotel for the evening, preferring to run into downtown DC to go to Remington's, the Eagle or such.
