National Park Seminary Tour

This evening after work, kent4str, cuyahogarvr, Dave R. and I attended a tour of the National Park Seminary organized by a local charity which has been working for years to preserve the historic buildings.

The property has been under construction for some time. The empty areas of the grounds now have townhouses; the profits from these (as well as future sales of condos and income from rents) are helping to fund the preservation of the historic portions of the complex. I've talked about it previously in this post.

One must wonder why a seminary needed a ballroom...

It was seminary in the sense of a Victoria society ladies' finishing school/college rather than a religious order.

The young ladies needed the covered walkways to protect them from the elements, housing for their personal maids and horse grooms, a ballroom to learn proper dancing, a demo house in which to learn proper management of one's household staff, etc.. Must be nice.
