Last Night's Plus/Advanced Calling

On the whole, my Plus/A2 night calling for the DC Lambda Squares' club night went pretty well. We started a few minutes late but not badly so; in all, we had three squares of Plus consistently on the dance floor and two for the Advanced tips.

I call extemporaneously for Mainstream and Plus all the time but rarely for Advanced or higher. As a self-improvement project, I make a point of calling at least 50% of the Advanced tips extemporaneously. Those worked fairly well: the dancers were moving consistently, I used a breadth of calls and the figures, while perhaps not choreographically notable, were at least smooth, consistent and danceable.

I also received fan mail, woo hoo!
I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy dancing to your calling. I'm grateful for the many extra hours you devote to developing your calling skill. I also thank you and Kent for the help and support that you've given me with C1. One of these days, I'll be able to dance it. No matter what all those other people say, I think you're swell!

I could have written that as well. And I will, on this board. Thank you for your continuing generosity and efforts in helping me out as a newbie C1 dancer and a caller wannabe. I have a lot more appreciation for the things you that you do.
