Our drive to & from the trailer this weekend through West Virginia was highly amusing: there are vast numbers of election campaign signs for local, municipal and statewide offices but none whatsoever for federal offices. Thus, the signs, names and offices changed every half-hour or so as we made our way across the state.

For example, Sandy Holepit is running against Jim Nabors for magistrate. "Sandy Holepit" sounds like a character out of an unpublished Dickens reject; and I thought Jim Nabors was dead. :-)

My favourite though was a chap ironically named Randy Minor running for family court judge. You can't make these things up.

I thought Jim Nabors was dead. :-)

You might want to check that with Mr. Nabors personally. :)

Yeah, I did a Google search when we returned home but that was the thought running through my head when I saw the roadside signs. Of course, when we finally found a billboard with a photo of the candidate, we had proof that it wasn't the same guy.

Draw your own conclusions.

Although a good 18 years ago, I really did see Jim Nabors walk into a San Mateo Denny's very late at night after one of his concerts at the Circle Star Theatre in San Carlos. He was gracious and polite ... and so was the very handsome man on his arm.
