I'm telecommuting for work today... it's the only way I could tackle a number of other domestic tasks while keeping abreast of work-related tasks.

We're off to LAX tonight but I've only done half of the packing required. I'm packing jeans & light shirts for the weekend, business casual for the convention and some dressier items for the banquet... it that doesn't meet the whims of the dress code nazis, too bad. [livejournal.com profile] cuyahogarvr is doing the online flight check-in as I type this.

In a flurry of e-mail, [livejournal.com profile] kent4str and I have our DC Lambda Squares calling gigs for April lined up. We'll have a new slate of board officers as of April 3 so we'll have to break in a new caller scheduler through April in preparation for May.

As of last night, we have 262 registrants for the 2009 IASGDC convention. We still have to do a tour of proposed fun badge tour sites among other little tasks but as long as we get these things done before the Cleveland convention, I'll be a happy camper.

[livejournal.com profile] cuyahogarvr and I are heading out for an all-gluten lunch somewhere shortly... whee!

Gluten......

A gluten-free diet is recommended amongst other things in the treatment of celiac disease and wheat allergy. It is a diet completely free of ingredients derived from gluten-containing cereals: wheat (including Kamut and spelt), barley, rye, oats and triticale, as well as the use of gluten as a food additive in the form of a flavoring, stablizing or thickening agent. Although most patients can tolerate oat products, there is a controversy about including them in a gluten-free diet: some medical practitioners]][1] say they may be permitted, but the Celiac Society advises against them.

Precisely! When [livejournal.com profile] kent4str is around, we go gluten-free. But he's working today so we can indulge in wheat-o-rama for lunch today. Yay, wheat!

It's also necessary in persons with dermititis herpetiformis, which is what I've got. No nasty, systemic issues, just AMAZINGLY itchy skin. Seriously - about ten times as bad as poison ivy.

And, as [livejournal.com profile] bjarvis will tell you, the accompanying bitchiness is beyond belief as well...

Well, the bitchiness is there regardless of the gluten effects.

Meant with love, of course.

There aren't really any dress code nazis at this convention - except that they do ask that people remove hats for meals (yes, some people do have to be told). Your choice of wardrobe will have you looking quite spiffy and fitting in very well for the convention. See you there.

I've always found it curious that anyone would want to wear a hat indoors anyway. At least they don't make the hat-wearers buy a round for the house!

See you in LA!
