Miscellaneous Little Things

After work, I dropped by a local watch shop for a little work on two watches. The watch given to me by my Dear Employer needed six links taken out of the watch band; it now fits perfectly. A watch kent4str gave me some years ago needed a new battery; it now works. :-)

Last night, cuyahogarvr and I danced Advanced with John Marshall and the Phantom 8s. As expected, we had a fun time dancing and I tried very hard to remember as many little choreographic tricks as I could. Chatting with John & Mary is always a hoot and I'm sure he'll do well as incoming Callerlab chair beginning next Wednesday.

Comcast has pissed off kent4str once too often. Now that they're switching Cartoon Network to their digital line-up, we either had to upgrade our Comcast service (already $65/month) or toss them overboard to go with a satellite service. The satellites won: we're going with Dish Network. We have an installation appointment for next Thursday.

Our Harper's Ferry Hoedown venue nightmare may soon be over. We have a candidate site selected in the general area of the last venue, has wood dance floors and reasonable rental charges. The search committee seems to be in agreement so now it's a matter of getting a contract. More news when it happens.

Now this is interesting news! I'm thinking we need to move to satellite, and I'll be interested to hear how the convertion goes. I have a problem that I use an 8-way splitter/amplifier to provide cable service to all our rooms. Satellite companies say we can do this with their service too (requiring a box in each room of course) but I still wonder if the satellite can provide sufficient signal for this. Anyway, keep us updated on the project !

I am sorry to read about the Hilltop. I really enjoyed that venue. I have no doubt that DCLS will pick another fab venue.
