March is LJ Question Month... go ahead, ask me anything you'd like. I'll answer as honestly & truthfully as possible while respecting the privacy & confidence of others who might be involved.

What are we going to do when we meet up next month?

We'd be happy to take you to our local bear happy hour --being seen in public with you would surely raise our public stature and general coolness factor. And dinner on the town with as many friends as we can round up is definitely on, provided your schedule can accomodate. Towards that end, any food preferences/dietery requirements/favourite restaurants we should take into account?

And there's much more I could say but this is a publicly-readable journal and I haven't consulted with the hubbies yet. ;-)

What is it about square dance calling that appeals to you the most?

The calling itself appeals to my analytical, problem-solving side. I get to spin the dancers around into wierd & wonderful formations, then use internalized knowledge of a defined subset of square dance calls (esp. their starting & ending positions) to find a way to resolve the square, all while staying 2-3 calls ahead of the dancers themselves.

On a somewhat higher level, I also get to participate in the planning process for our weekly dances, monthly community dances, occasional workshops and annual fly-ins. This let me use my project planning skills and detail-oriented planning.

In it all is a sense of community among square dancers and the square dance callers too.

Pretty well, over all. We've rearranged the house to accomodate his stuff, we've juggled the bank accounts to share access where appropriate and we've developed something of a household routine. My biggest fears lately are that Michael is bored and/or feeling house-bound lately; I worry he's not getting enough outside stimulation. I'm confident though that we'll work it all out in time.
