Late Winterization

bjarvisThe hottub is now emptied and winterized.
We had originally planned to do this in the fall as we typically do every year but this time we thought we'd leave the tub running on the chance we (esp. Michael) might use it during the winter. That, however, hasn't happened. Worse, the electric bill for December arrived last week. Oy.
Earlier today, we cut the power to the tub and began draining. This evening, we scooped out the remaining water. Tomorrow, we'll wrap up the beast until spring.
We'll miss you, hottub!

It's supposed to get much colder for the rest of the weekend and we feared the water in the pump & plumbing would freeze and destroy the innards. The 400+ gallons in the tub itself probably wouldn't have frozen but there was a chance.
Yeah, there was a shelter idea but doing it right is a very expensive proposition. We decided to buy a tropical island instead.
