Hoping to Visit New York City

A bunch of folks from DC --including myself, cuyahogarvr and kent4str-- were planning to visit New York City for the weekend of Feb 22-24. We've done this previously but missed the last two years because of scheduling nightmares. This year, I thought we'd get our act together and finally do it once again.

The first portion of our plan just fell apart. In the past, the dozen of us stayed at the Colonial House Inn on West 22nd Street; the rooms were reasonably priced, it was a great location and we could stay together for easier coordination of meals, theater events and such.

CHI, however, has changed their reservation policy: this far in advance, they'll only take reservations if we book a block of 3-4 nights. If we want just a weekend, we can't book more than 2 weeks ahead of the event by which time if they don't have space, there will be few other options left to us elsewhere.

I'm now looking for downtown alternate hotel/motel/b&b space for the group of seven confirmed thus far, with more possibly being added soon. We'll be carpooling from DC so a nearby garage would be very useful too. Any suggestions?

I thought we could take in the 3 of you here, but then re-read the "bunch of us" part. Knowing Kent, I'm sure the cats would be a problem as well. But the offer is there - comes with parking also.
