In the year of my birth...
Dec. 23rd, 2007 12:55 pmThis meme was somewhat lacking so I edited the responses a little and added my own highlights of the grandeur that was 1967.
| In 1967 (the year you were born) |

The Six Day War. The first Boeing 737 takes a test flight. Canada begins a year-long celebration of the 100th anniversary of Confederation. The highlight is the 1967 World Fair in Montreal, Expo '67. "O Canada" becomes the official national anthem of Canada. The Order of Canada is founded. While visiting Quebec, Charles de Gaulle makes his "Vive le Quebec libre!" speech. Quebec sovereigntists are ecstatic; federalists are furious. He's asked not-so-politely to go home. In an unrelated event, de Gaulle vetoes Britain's entry into the European Economic Community later in the year. Britain decriminalizes homosexuality. Canadian Justice Minister Pierre Trudeau introduces reform legislation late in the year; among other updates, homosexuality would be decriminalized when it passes in 1968. Anderson Cooper, (OMG hottie) Tim McGraw, Nicole Kidman, Pamela Anderson, Will Ferrell, Matt Leblanc, Harry Connick Jr and Keith Urban were all born. Jack Ruby, Robert Oppenheimer, Alice B Toklas, Dorothy Parker, Spencer Tracey, Jayne Mansfield, Vivien Leigh, John Coltrane and Woody Guthrie all passed away. There was no Nobel peace prize awarded. I maintain I had nothing to do with that; my parents are strangely silent on the issue. |

Date: 2007-12-23 07:00 pm (UTC)Two of these are gone.
One ex partner of mine and one ex f/b were born in 1967. I generally avoid romantic dalliances with anyone born in that year now. ;-)
