I finally managed to take apart my Sony Vaio laptop and extract the hard drive.
Problem: The laptop hard drive is serial ATA, but the external disk enclosure I have is IDE. Damn!
I can't think of any other machine to which I have immediate access that supports serial ATA, except perhaps
kent4str's iMac which I doubt he'd let me dismantle even if our lives depended on it.
The replacement power supply for my Vaio should be arriving in about one week. I think I'll just reassemble the laptop and try to be patient until I can power it up again on its own terms. *sigh*

Date: 2007-12-20 09:42 pm (UTC)One of my co-workers may have a spare Sony power supply at home; she'll look tonight and possibly bring it to the office tomorrow. If that doesn't work out, I can either get the SATA enclosure you describe or wait for the eBay-purchased power supply to arrive, depending on how rushed I feel.
