Sorry, it won't wash. A crontab entry to mail yourself a reminder on Dec 01 annually is a 10-second solution. If you carry a PDA you can set up an annual reminder. Your "notoriously short attention span" aside, your excuse amounts to "laziness."

I have no sympathy for you in this case.
