When you transcribe choreo, do you get "a-ha" moments? Is it tough for you to transcribe C2, or is it about the same as C1?

Yeah, there's a lot of "a-ha" moments... sometimes it's interesting choreo and sometimes it's the yelps of pain in the background from the dancers. After doing the initial transcription, it's occasionally useful to search the text for examples of unusual calls or formations (eg. magic butterfly or such).

Transcribing the C2 is a little tougher: I have to listen very closely to determine if Anne was actively calling or just cuing a prior call I didn't recognize.

LOL, I forgot about the cueing, especially from [livejournal.com profile] ewe_bull_akr. That must be exceptionally difficult for you to transcribe!

So do we get C2 in your near future?

I'd love to get into C2 when/if a course is offered although I'm sure there won't be one in the greater DC for a while longer. Square dancing/calling is the only intellectual stimulation I get these days so I relish the opportunity to learn more.

Thanks for reminding me. I should make our hotel reservations for CallerLab 08, too.

Purchase Halloween candy for the kids that'll never come;

make VERY sure that this contains your favourite kinds of candy so that when, tragically, much of it goes unclaimed, your self-sacrificial consuming of the unwanted candy is as pleasant as possible.

(do they have individual treat-sized coffee-crisp(ette)s in your neck of the woods?)
