The temperature is supposed to reach 98 degrees F this afternoon. With the humidity, it will feel closer to 105F.

Excuse me... my owner's manual and design specifications clearly state that I'm supposed to be kept in an environment ranging from -20F to 75F.

Bleh.

Yep, same here. Felt like ass yesterday. According to home weather station, it hit 93°F yesterday with a peak heat index of 100°F.

Even walking outside this morning in the sun feels like it's just baking you to death and it's only in the 80's. Supposed to be more humid today.

If it weren't for air conditioning, I couldn't possibly tolerate this climate: I'd have to move back north again to preserve my remaining sanity.

How did anyone survive, let alone be productive, in this environment before the invention of AC? It boggles my little mind.

We didn't have AC until I was in 4th grade, and then it was just window units that didn't work very well. And we survived.

Not that I'd live long without central air now. All hail the great god Freon!

did you have to walk six miles to and from school when you were young? barefoot? uphill both ways??

I'm fairly sure brian did, but in his case it was barefoot in the snow.

(we didn't have this problem in England, but then, I didn't own a pair of long trousers until I was 10, so the knees got chilly even without snow)

Oh, Hell, no! We were driven to and from school by lunatics in WWI-surplus buses, over unpaved and poorly-blased trails...
