Dreams

I had a very weird but kinda funny in retrospect dream Friday night/Saturday morning.

In this particular episode, I was participating in a square dance caller school with [livejournal.com profile] otterpop58 as our caller coach. It was a very odd session though: it was outdoors on the side of a hill with two squares of dancers.

When it was my turn at the mic, I dutifully took my laptop up with me, quickly plugged it and my microphone into the turntable and prepared to start. Then Windows died. I quickly reset the laptop and it promptly died again. OK, fine: I grabbed my Palm Pilot off my belt, plugged it in and started the MP3 player. My Palm Pilot crashed.

Growing more frustrated, I pulled a 45rpm record out of my laptop case, a little something I keep handy for emergencies like this. We had music, but then my mic started generated all forms of static. I quickly reset all of the cable connections and the static died down. Good.

Looking up, I realized the squares were a distance away. A far distance. The nearer square was more than 200 feet away and the other was a further hundred feet beyond. WTF?! They were so far away, there was little hope of identifying any of the dancers or distinguishing clothing to help me sight resolve the square once we started. And suddenly I lost a contact lens so even if the squares were 10 feet from me, there was no hope of seeing squat. Fine, I'll just use mental imagery and simple figures to shuffle them around and hope I've effectively brought them home again.

And that's when the rain started.

The dancers wanted to keep going and the turntable continued to work but I was getting electrical shocks from the mic and had to muffle myself to keep from yelping on mic whenever it happened accidentally. Coach [livejournal.com profile] otterpop58 looked like he was desperately trying to find something encouraging to say but was at a total loss for words. In fact, he started to edge away from me very rapidly when we saw lightning flashes approaching our location.

I woke up from the dream at this point. I would hope I'd have the good sense to bag the entire event before being hit by lightning but I might have been stubborn enough to have toughed it out until death.

No, I think this is your body telling you to get a second laptop you can use to back up the first laptop, ala Barry Clasper.

Besides, a second laptop is way more fun than -- wait, did he say "more sex"?

Nope. "More sex" trumps "second laptop".

He's right.

Get more sex.

no question about it, more sex. total abandon, screaming the plaster off the walls, gimme- a- second- tub-o-lube, when you cum you pass out for 15 minutes SEX. And then do it all again.

also reads as if it would help if you could ease up on needing to be in control of life.

well, my take on that dream...

could it be relating your feelings and emotions to the loss of our shining light, Warren, this week? Nothing goes right. The music stops (ala Don McLean, the "day the music died"); the laptops and MP3 players fizzle right out; the dancers become a receding vision in your head. The rain, the tears we all shed for our loss, for the loss Tom has suffered in losing Warren forever. That's what I thought of as I read your dream. Your unconscious way of dealing with a devastating blow this week that has set us all back on our heels. Having sex and more sex might take it away, but it won't make it go away. IMHO.
