I participated in this meme in a few friends' journals so I am posting my own version in compliance with the viral propagation model participation agreement.

Reply to this post, and I'll make a positive observation about you. It could be something I like about you, or something I find interesting. If you want to, you may put this (or a variation of this) into your own journal, but you are under no obligation.

Your intimate familiarity with food and flavour, as exhibited by your food pr0n postings. I can competently follow directions of a recipe but utterly lack the talent of predicting how misc ingredients would recombine into something new. I'm too linear: you have the well-rounded experience to make it work and I find it fascinating.

Incredible patience. Your advice e-mails & responses to misc complaints & questions on queernet.org are firm but gentle when I would have tackled the situation with --how to put it?-- considerably less grace. I'm sure I'd be using a variant of "RTFM," but you somehow resist. I don't know how you do it but I wish I had that level of restraint.

And those smouldering, sexy eyes. sigh ;-)

The only thing more flattering than compliments on my public service is when, as you do, people have the good grace to go on and objectify me. :)

I had to save you for the last in this particular writing session. Despite being nothing but supportive, friendly and endearing, I still find you one of the most intimidating people I've ever met.

You have a keen mental ability for figures both graphic and numeric, developed well beyond what most people can manage. Despite great success and fame in the square dance field, you've maintained a sense of humility and community. You could easily blow off the newbie schmoes like me if you wanted but you don't and I --and I'm sure a vast number of other dancers & would-be callers-- are thankful for that.

You also have a well-rounded array of talents and a willingness to take on more such as your misc household maintenance and building projects, your line dance teaching sessions, your work with the gay men's chorus and such. You seem to be constantly in motion, all with good humour and gentleness.

Talent and determination in one package. I know too many people with one or the other, but you blend them together effortlessly. You accept the occasional failure or hiccup as an inevitable --but manageable-- side-effect of progress. In the past year or so, you've expanded your square dance calling, becoming the GCA newsletter editor, retired a tonne o' debt, selected & purchased a house, moved a household and kept your business running, all while keeping up with community involvement, keeping your hubby happy and --most recently-- taking on new domestic responsibilities. I'm exhausted just listing it all but you've managed it with your head above water in spite of health distractions (your weight loss project, sinus issues, etc.). That's determination.

You have an ability for resilience which confounds me. Life has sucker-punched you on numerous occasions but you've not only bounced back, you've gained ground every time. Sure, Portales, NM sucks out loud but you've established a comfortable home and have a great family. Work sucked, but you've converted that into academic pursuits, more writing projects, a radio license and more music. Kicking ass on this scale is a great quality to have.

Humour. Your postings never fail to light up my day. OK, you've caused me tremendous embarrassment when work colleagues drop by my cube to find out why I've gone into hysterics yet again, but I'll concede you're only, say, 75% to blame for that. I envy your talent for composition, plot and imagery.

A reason to live?????

You're a survivor. Your long-established, comfortable domestic life exploded in slow motion but you picked up the good pieces, swept away the bad and reassembled your life and yourself. Sure it wasn't pretty, but you didn't collapse and you didn't run away.

You believe in the value of continually inching towards progress even if the destination isn't yet in sight. If you're going through hell, keep on going...

You have a wonderful adaptibility to immediate circumstances while still managing to mold the ultimate outcome to meet your long range goals.

You brighten my day.

You have a particular personal insight which allows you to navigate situations which confound most mortals. You pick your battles with care, then consider which battles could be instead handled with finesse and charm. I also perceive a deep-seated sense of self-knowledge, stability and organization, all of which form the solid foundation for your pursuits and goals.

And if I might be permitted to be shallow for a moment, you wear a tight pair of jeans like no man alive. I mean, like, wow. :-)

Any time, anywhere. :-)

You have an amazing combination of broad knowledge, sharp intelligence, razor wit and faux dumb blondness which you can sponetaneously turn on & off when the situation requires. Any regular person would be happy to master any one of these but you combine it with a keen perception of the people around you switching modes to elicit particular responses from leavening a heavy mood with humour to skewering stuffed shirts with inconvenient facts as needed. Please leave your social graces to me in your will.

Wow, you're probably the hardest, simply because I've had less interaction with you than anyone else. But hey, I love a challenge! :-)

My intuition is that you and I are very much alike: industrious geeks, detail-oriented, thorough, obsessive in a good way, practical. While we give the appearance of taking on new projects & experiences spontaneously, we secretly research it in advance so we know what we're getting into.

In a heartbeat!

Oh, the meme... OK...

I admire the way you handle life not as a burden or a routine but as a fun screaming roller coaster of thrills. You, [livejournal.com profile] bumbelion1977, the kids, the ex-wife... you expertly juggle both family, friends and work as a never-ending source of excitement & joy when most mortals would be driven insane or simply crumble under the weight. You revel in chaos where others fear to tread.
