I ordered a 320 GB external USB hard drive from Buy.com two days ago ($110); it arrived yesterday. I'm now merrily backing up my primary Windows box, the one with 99% of my photos and 100% of my pr0n, about 60 GB worth. It'll take a few hours to wrap up.
My iMac required nearly 10 hours to back up all of the primary data partition. Alas, the older iMac has only USB 1.1 so its speed is a fraction of the newer USB 2.0. One more reason to upgrade my Mac some day soon.
Before the weekend is over, I'll make backups of both my personal laptop and the square dance calling laptop too. Hmm... I should also burn DVD backups of those machines...

Date: 2006-12-30 04:08 pm (UTC)But what I really need is a new 120G or greater HD to replace the older 17.2G HD for my secondary drive so I can have more space for video projects. However, that will have to wait as what I really should be doing is upping the memory from 740MB to a gig so I can do some of the more important parts of a video project without major hiccups with the PC as it is now but really should just upgrade the whole damn box with an all new MB, processor etc.
