DCLS dances different programs at our Thursday club nights, depending on the week of the month: 1st and 3rd Thursdays are Mainstream & Plus night while 2nd & 4th Thursdays are Plus and Advanced. The occasional rare fifth Thursday is A2/C1 night. Last night was one of those rare nights.

[livejournal.com profile] justetthon was calling as she does many of our A/C evenings; sadly, she was a little under the weather with a cold, picked up during her travels last weekend. Bless her heart, with assistance from modern pharmaceuticals, she propped herself and plowed on.

We have club members taking Advanced classes with two other area callers currently so the evening was dominated by A1 calls, giving the newbies additional floor time.

I danced all of the A2 and C1 tips and all but one of the A1 tips, quite possibly the most dancing I've done at a club night in months. I'll admit my C1 was a little sluggish: I haven't danced much in the past two weeks so everything was working slowly. Still, I'm happy to report that my mistakes were few and not particularly catastrophic: when our square exploded, it was a shared effort. :-) I do need to get more floor time in before ACDC next February though.

I'm just chatting with Ett now. She's still sick and took the day off of work. I sent my condolences...I had that a few weeks ago and was just a miserable mess for 10 days or so.

I think she was working very hard last night to disguise how badly off she felt; I dashed out for cough drops prior to the dance but she still had a few intervals of coughing spasms periodically. Hopefully, she'll get plenty of rest today and across the weekend.

always a pleasure... even when one is sick

always nice chatting with you, BilliVanilli (you'll never live that down, will you?) Seen any guillotines lately in your square? :-)

you did great, Brian

you know, as a caller, dancers are "invisible to me" when they are not making mistakes big enough to take the whole place down in the dirt. You were invisible to me last night, and I mean that in the best sense of the word. You did great on the C1, Brian! I look forward to having you join Ettseteras when you can. It was refreshing and exciting to see so many new A1 dancers at club night last night. I enjoyed calling the night, even though I wasn't sure if I'd make it through the two hours. This horrible respiratory disturbance is no fun. Thanks for getting me the cough drops and water... much appreciated. Ett

I'm not sure that Ett is telling the truth. I would bet that certain Northern California dancers are visible to Ett regardless of whether they are making mistakes or not. Or maybe, it's just because they are capable of making comments that can cause an entire floor to convulse in laughter?
