Today has been about productivity.
I was actually useful at work today: I upgraded an IBM Linux box to 16 GB and spent several hours cleaning up the data center, sorting & coiling extra cables, working on the build of two new servers, etc.. It's not much perhaps but it feels good to be useful.
Tomorrow, in theory at least, is my first payday. Direct deposit won't be ready yet so I'll have to wait for the paper check to arrive in the mail but I'm sure the pay will make this telecommute/remote job finally seem real.
At home, I've caught up on scanning a stack of IAGSDC convention registration forms. This was made vastly easier by using
kent4str's HP scanner/printer and his MacBook: the scanner itself is vastly faster than my old beast and I was able to scan directly to PDF instead of having to use separate software.
My email has been overflowing for a while too, but no more: I've caught up on a large number of outstanding issues. While not ever topic is finished, I've gone as far as I could pending information and actions by others.
I really love my new netbook computer. It's been a dream to cart between home and work, it's small enough to set up just about anywhere and it's just do damned convenient. Indeed, I'm working on it right now in the living room. Earlier this evening, I installed the software necessary to sync my Palm Tungsten E2 as well so I won't have to boot my larger XP workstation anywhere near as frequently. Yay!
