ASGRA Rodeo Dance
Sep. 6th, 2008 01:20 amThe gay rodeo hotel this year has been moved from the Capitol Hill area of downtown DC to Tysons Corners in Virginia. Judging by the vastly smaller crowd at the dance tonight, I'd say this move may not have been a winner. Hopefully, it's the foul weather keeping people away but the venue location can't help.
A surprising number of rodeo regulars seemed to be absent but we had enough square dancers for a half-hour demo & first-nighter lesson. We didn't have much of an audience as the schedulers put us in a side room while the Manhattan Prairie Dogs were performing in the main dance hall. Bummer, but such is life.
As soon as our performance was over, we hit the road. My ears were close to bleeding from excessive volume in both dance spaces, but of course I'm a gentle & delicate thing. Now to get some sleep so we can repeat our show at 1:45 PM tomorrow afternoon, presuming that tropical storm Hanna doesn't wash us all out to sea.
